Description

We Speak NYC for Low-Level Learners

We Speak NYC (WSNYC) is an ESOL/civics video drama series with 17 empowering immigrant stories on topics including education, health care, social services, workforce development, worker rights, domestic violence, financial empowerment and more. In addition to the videos, the WSNYC website has Study Guides, scripts, short stories, discussion questions, interactive quizzes and additional teacher resources for each episode. The series addresses topics that are important to the quality of life of all New Yorkers. In this workshop, we will present methods and activities for using WSNYC to build listening, speaking, reading and writing skills that low-level ESOL learners can utilize in order to engage with the important content in the series.
